Spansion puts 65nm flash into volume
Spansion has moved its 65nm MirrorBit NOR flash memories into volume production at its SP1 fab. The 512Mbit and 1Gbit parts are planned to precede the introduction in 2009 of MirrorBit Eclipse devices, which combine the benefits of NOR and NAND flash.
The NOR GL family currently offers a range of monolithic densities from 32Mbit to 1Gbit and the latest release adds drop in 65nm MirrorBit replacements that allow customers to migrate among densities without altering board layouts – the so called Universal Footprint.
The 65nm MirrorBit GL products operate at 3V, with a random read speed of 100ns. Page read speeds are said to be 25ns via an eight word page buffer.
Additional security is provided with Spansion’s Advanced Sector Protection technology, which provides designer defined security with 64bit password protection for sensitive software algorithms or parameters.
