Multi mode power amplifier from SiGe Semiconductor

A multi mode power amplifier from SiGe Semiconductor has been launched to cater for 2.4GHz wlan systems.

The SE2529L has been designed for equipment that bridges 802.11b installations with higher speed 802.11g networks. Compliant to IEEE802.11b and 802.11g, the device supports data rates of 54mbs in the 2.4GHz band, and is said to provide five times the speed of 802.11b networks, whilst maintaining backwards compatibility with the installed base.

In 802.11b mode, it provides an output power of +23dBm at an acpr of <-32dBc on the first side lobe and <-50dBc on the second side lobe. In 802.11g mode, it provides +18dBm power output.
The SE2529L employs silicon germanium architecture, allowing it to achieve high linearity which improves stability in multi path ofdm environments, according to SiGe.

This is the first in a series of power amplifiers from SiGe. Other devices will further integrate and improve performance of 2.4GHz 802.11b/g and 5GHz 802.11a systems.
