Micrel signs solar cell deal

Micrel signs solar cell deal

Micrel has signed a multimillion dollar long term contract with what is said to be a ‘commercial solar cell company’ to manufacture and supply concentrated solar cells. According to the company, its processing capability enables the creation of the highest efficiency solar cells presently available.

“Micrel has long supported environmental preservation efforts on a global basis,” noted Guy Gandenberger, vice president of wafer fab and foundry operations. “This new agreement enables Micrel to provide valuable energy saving solutions while offsetting current capacity.”
Micrel will make the solar cells at its San Jose site.
