Lower current, higher memory

  • Lower current, higher memory

Jennic has launched its latest single chip 32bit wireless microcontroller which it claims has the lowest system operating current and highest memory density.

Unveiled at Emebedded World 2009, the JN5148 microcontroller is based on the ZigBee Pro and IEEE802.15.4 standards and combines low operating current consumption with high memory density. It achieves a system operating current consumption of 18mA when receiving and 15mA transmitting at 3dBm. With 128kb Rom, 12kbRAM and enhanced coding efficiency, it has been designed to allow sufficient space for developers to integrate embedded software and the ZigBee Pro protocol stack into a single chip. Ist Time of Flight ranging engine enables the development of next generation wireless mesh networks for battery powered and data rich applications.
The JN5148 is offered with Jennic’s ZigBee Pro stack and is supported by a range of evaluation and development kits, reference designs, code examples and an online developer forum. It is currently sampling to customers with full production planned at the end of the first half of 2009.
