MCUs offer highest lcd display segment count

Renesas' RL78/L13 family of low power microcontrollers is claimed to offer the highest lcd display segment count in the industry.

The devices, which operate down to 0.6µA, feature an on chip lcd controller and offer up to 376 segment drive capability in an 80pin package - allowing more information to be displayed on the lcd panels included in home appliances and other equipment.

Comparators and high functionality timers are also included to support system control for induction heating equipment. A real time clock function provides a perpetual high precision RTC counter.

The RL78/L13 group consists of 24 models in 64 and 80pin packages, with flash memory capacities from 16 to 128KB.
