  • LED backlit lcd tv sales set to soar in 2010?

LED backlit lcd tvs will gain considerable momentum in 2010 and beyond, according to market analyst iSuppli.

The company cites increasing commitments from various parts of the tv supply chain, consumer demand and a higher focus on green technologies.
iSuppli forecasts that global shipments of such tvs 40in and larger, will expand to 112.1million units by 2013, rising to a compound annual growth rate of 405% from 34,000 units in 2008.

In 2010, the analyst says, shipments will rise by a factor of more than six, reaching 18.8m units – up from 2.5m in 2009. According to the report, by 2013, 83.2% of 40in and larger lcd tvs shipped will use led backlights, up from 0.1% in 2008 and 6% in 2009.
