Kontron pushes COM standard

  • Kontron pushes COM standard

Kontron, Advantech, Aaeon and Adlink announced at Embedded World in Nuremberg today that they will present the nanoETXexpress form factor to the PICMG consortium for potential incorporation into the next COM Express releases.

Two variants of the nanoETXexpress format will be proposed – Ultra, which measures 84 x 55mm, and Compact, which measures 95 x 95mm. Currently, the COM Express specification includes only Basic (95 x 125mm) and Extended (110 x 155mm).
“The support of these major COM vendors underlines the fact that nanoETXexpress is a safe investment,” said Dirk Finstel, Kontron’s cto, pictured. “In addition, the market for COM Express Type 1 interconnects is strong and is expected to grow by 70% up to 2010. This is why we expect the Ultra specification to be the de facto standard for small form factor designs.”
