Initiative to provide ‘trusted COTS’ products for US military

  • Initiative to provide ‘trusted COTS’ products for US military

Responding to the US Department of Defense's requirement that critical military technologies and data be protected, Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing (CWC) has launched the Trusted COTS initiative. According to the company, it will invest resources to support the services, personnel and processes needed to supply its customers and industry partners with Trusted COTS products.

"Our initiative will endeavour to develop and support best practices for Trusted COTS solutions from the clean room to the war room," said Lynn Patterson, pictured, vice president and general manager of CWC's Modular Solutions business. "CWC has dedicated resources to identify and develop open architecture compatible products and services for the rugged deployed COTS market. Our approach will be to provide layers of protection by developing the IP and partnership relationships with the key suppliers needed to build a comprehensive portfolio of enabling technologies."
Under its Trusted COTS initiative, Curtiss-Wright Controls will develop standards, methodologies, tools and knowledge that will define improved engineering product design and development processes. The result will be an ecosystem of Trusted COTS enabling technologies developed by Curtiss-Wright Controls and its trusted partners.
