  • Emerson uses Atom to address broader market

Emerson Network Power is embarking on a new strategy under which it aims to become the supplier of choice for industrial and commercial OEMs.

Outlining the strategy at Embedded World, the company said it is looking to broaden its product appeal to makers of commercial, industrial automation, government and mil/aerospace equipment.
Jorge Magalhaes, vp of Emerson Network Power´s embedded computing business, added: "The industry will start seeing Atom based products from Emerson ´very soon´. It´s clearly a growth area."
A series of new initiatives, driven by Emerson`s planning process and underpinned by manufacturing excellence will accelerate out penetration into non telecom markets," said Stephen Dow, pictured, president of the company´s embedded computing business.
Part of the strategy is to adopt Intel´s Atom processor. Joe Jensen, general manager of Intel´s embedded computing business, said: "We are working with Emerson to take Atom into deeply embedded applications."
