Dell held in contempt

  • Dell held in contempt

Computer manufacturer Dell has been held in contempt by a Louisiana judge, who said that the company was 'making a mockery' out of the system.

The outburst followed the submission of documents submitted by the corporation in a civil lawsuit made by two security camera makers.
Despite Dell's attorney, Phillip Wittmann's claims that more than 160,000 pages of documentation had been produced, Judge Rosemary Ledet described the company's conduct as 'unconscionable'.
It was alleged that when checking Dell executives' emails, key words such as "camera" and "public safety" were not searched for and Ledet ordered that the emails be rechecked. She told Whitmann: "Dell is in the business of computers. How can they not find the documents? How can they not search the emails? You're making a mockery of the system here. Read my lips, Dell is in contempt."
Southern Electronics Supply and Active Solutions sued Dell in 2007, claiming that the company conspired to steal their technology.
