Boards facilitate mini pcb production units

  • Electronics board level design

A range of single and double sided blank Eurocard pcbs, covered with photosensitive resist has been unveiled by prototyping board specialist, Vero Technologies.

According to Vero, the Fotoboard enables custom pcbs to be quickly made in-house, with potential applications in R&D labs and education.

The 1.6mm thick boards are available in 100 x 160 and 220mm 3U single and 233 x 160 and 220mm 6U double Eurocard sizes in both single and double-sided format, with a 1oz copper layer as standard. The 5microns thick resist film is high temperature cured which Vero claims results in a durable board that can be handled, accurately guillotined and processed in complete safety.

A positive of the required circuit is output onto clear film using a standard desktop laser or inkjet printer from a CAD package; the protective plastic film peeled off the photoresist layer, which is then exposed under uv light to fix the image and the unwanted copper is then etched away to produce the circuit. Board cutting units, uv exposure units and develop, wash and etch tanks and related consumables are all available, which Vero says enables a mini pcb production unit for low volume requirements to be set up.
