ATCA Blade with dual Intel Xeon Processor L5518 and AMC Bay

  • ATCA Blade with dual Intel Xeon Processor L5518 and AMC Bay

Adlink Technology claims that the aTCA-6100 is the first AdvancedTCA (ATCA) blade with two quad core Intel Xeon 5500 series processors and a midsize AMC bay.

It features an Intel 5520 chipset, up to 48GB of DDR3 memory and an optional PICMG midsize AMC bay. Oncard connectivity includes dual GbE or 10GbE fabric interfaces, dual GbE base interfaces, dual front panel GbE interfaces and quad SAS channels, said to provide 'leading edge' network performance and storage capabilities.

The aTCA-6100 has been designed for carrier grade applications such as media servers in IPTV, IMS broadband networks and wireless infrastructures.

Jeff Munch, cto of Adlink, said: "It is our seven years of experience in the design of ATCA board and chassis products that has allowed us to create another industry first – the ability to run 16 concurrent threads on dual Xeon processors cpu blade while still supporting an AMC Bay for additional peripherals."

Intel's marketing director, embedded and communications, Troy Smith, added: "The aTCA-6100 uses Intel Xeon 5500 series processors supporting ddr3 memory up to 48GB and Intel 10GbE and GbE controllers to deliver the necessary performance for high end telecom and media server applications requiring enterprise class computing performance, memory capacity and bandwidth connectivity."
