AMD launches 'industry's most powerful' server graphics processors

AMD has launched what it claims are the industry's most powerful dual and single slot server graphics cards for virtual desktop infrastructure and workstation graphics in data centres.

The FirePro S9000 and S7000 feature the company's Graphics Core Next architecture, PowerTune and ZeroCore Power technologies and are said to reduce power consumption by up to 95% at idle.

"More companies want to virtualise their IT ecosystem in order to do more with less while remaining responsive to the needs of their users," commented David Cummings, senior director of professional graphics at AMD. "Our server graphics not only provide an unrivalled feature set for data centre customers, but blistering compute performance and outstanding power efficiency."
