Despite concern, large TFT LCD panel shipments increase

Global shipments of large thin-film transistor (TFT) liquid crystal display (LCD) panels rose again in 2018 despite concerns of over-supply in the market. In particular, area shipments increased by 10.6 percent to 197.9 million square metres compared to the previous year, driven by TV and monitor panels, according to IHS Markit.

Growth to continue throughout 2019

Speaking to journalists in London at the end of last year, Mark Burr-Lonnon, Mouser’s Senior Vice President of Global Service & EMEA and APAC Businesses gave an upbeat assessment of 2018 and said that the growth, currently being enjoyed by the industry and Mouser itself, would continue into 2019.

Electronics healthy but trade wars loom

Production of electronic equipment is healthy, reports Semiconductor Intelligence. According to the analyst company, China, the largest electronics producer, showed three-month-average change versus a year ago (3/12) of 13.8% in August.

Seven IC products to outpace total 16% 2018 IC market growth

Seven product categories will exceed the 16% growth rate expected from the total IC market this year, says IC Insights. This prediction has emerged as a result of an updated forecast from IC Insights which looks at the sales growth for each of the 33 major IC product categories defined by WSTS (Figure 1).
