National Microelectronics Institute ceo Derek Boyd has been elected chairman of the UK Electronics Alliance, the grouping of major UK electronics trade associations. Boyd replaces Ashley Evans who became ceo of the Electronics Knowledge Transfer Network.

Boyd elected UKEA chairman

Boyd said: “The UKEA has proved its worth in a very short space of time and I’m proud to take up the chair. The Alliance provides a tremendous platform for reviewing the common problems and opportunities faced by all sectors of the electronics community – not just microelectronics – and there’s a real power to its collective voice.”
Boyd’s first job as chairman was to welcome the Electromagnetic Compatibility Industry Association as a new member of the UKEA.
