sigma delta converter, car radio, software defined radio All passengers in a car may soon be able to listen to different radio stations, according to NXP Semiconductors. Leo Warmerdam, NXP’s senior director of research, pictured, claimed: “Our research program focused on broadband Sigma-Delta converter architectures will reshape what consumers expect from their car audio experiences and holds the promise of revolutionising many other wireless applications.”
NXP’s broadband Sigma-Delta converter can digitise all fm radio channels simultaneously, eliminating the need for radios to filter each fm radio channel individually. This enables all passengers to listen to a different radio station or source simultaneously from one car radio using wired or wireless headsets.
NXP’s Sigma-Delta converter technology was outlined in an NXP paper presented at the recent ISSCC event in San Francisco.
