CPLDs feature ultra low power consumption 04/12/2006

CPLD, complex programmable logic device Atmel has announced a cpld family with ultra low power consumption. This, says the company, makes the parts suitable for use in applications which spend most of their time in standby mode.
The 1.8V ATF15xxBE family run from a 1.8V supply and consume around 5µA in standby mode. When running at 20MHz, the parts consume 1mA. Densities ranging from 32 to 128 macrocells are available and the family offers up to 32kbits of eeprom.
The range also offers independent feedback paths for both the register and combinatorial logic. This dual path architecture allows register and combinatorial macrocell resources to be fully utilised most of the time – doubling the amount of available logic.
