Partnership to provide ESL tools for Altera platform 27/11/2006

Celoxica and EBV Elektronik have announced plans to deploy their complementary expertise to provide electronic system level (ESL) design solutions to customers using Altera’s system on programmable chip technology.
According to the two companies, they will be targeting applications where high density logic is coupled closely with microprocessor technology such as Nios II processors or DSPs. Initially the partnership will concentrate on design projects in the UK, but the agreement will be rolled out to a pan European level in the future.
“EBV continues to innovate to meet the requirements of customers who present us with ever more challenging, complex and time critical projects”, said Graeme Cathrall, EBV’s general sales manager in the UK and Ireland. “By tapping into Celoxica’s system level design tools and know how, we can offer a complete design solution from the system specification to chip level implementation.”
Sandeep Ram, Celoxica’s vice president of European sales, noted: “ESL design for FPGA is being increasingly applied to volume production and it makes sense to work closely with a distribution specialist who is set up to fulfill that demand. As FPGA devices become more powerful, they are being integrated into the heart of the system and ESL delivers the design efficiencies and system capabilities that customers must have.”
