Wireless test advance 26/09/2006

Billed as the industry’s fastest signal analyser yet is Agilent’s newly launched MXA. Aimed at those dealing with complex modulated signals in wireless communications device design or manufacture, it enables engineers to test against a considerable range of preconfigured test routines, available through optional measurement application software. The standards catered for include WiMAX, HSDPA/HSUPA, Private Mobile Radio, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/j/p, and ZigBee.
The pc based instrument, which runs on Windows XP Professional, also integrates Agilent’s 89601A vector signal analysis software, allowing designers to test against virtual prototypes.
The MXA supports frequency ranges from 20Hz to 3.6, 8.4, 13.6 and 26.5GHz, and has a standard analysis bandwidth of 10MHz or optional 25MHz. A notable characteristic is its high intrinsic speed – it can produce a W-CDMA ACLR measurement in under 14ms.
