UK image sensors on Japanese satellite 26/09/2006

Image sensors from e2v feature in three of the scientific instruments on board the Solar-B space mission, launched from Japan on 23 September. The sensors will capture high resolution images during solar atmospheric investigations that will examine the dynamic relationship between Earth and the Sun.
Solar-B’s extreme ultraviolet imaging spectrometer and the xray telescope instrument both use e2v’s large area, back illuminated ccds, whilst the solar optical telescope features three custom sensors developed in conjunction with Lockheed-Martin.
