Vicor to double brick business

Power conversion specialist Vicor is aiming to double the size of its ‘brick’ business in the next four years. According to Bob Marchetti, senior manager of product marketing for Vicor’s brick division, the company is investing heavily in new product R&D.
As part of its plans, Vicor has added eight mid power Maxi dc/dc converters to its 24V dc input family. The devices include a 3.3V out 200W model and seven 300W models.
The new products provide designers with a mid power option, but with the functionality and configurability of high power models. Marchetti noted: “We’re filling in the spaces so customers can get what they want without having to pay too much.”
