Is Freescale the subject of a bidding war? 12/09/2006
 
Discussions are underway about the possible acquisition of Freescale Semiconductor. It is thought that there might be competing offers from two private equity firms previously involved in the bidding for Philips.
Freescale confirmed that it was in talks but warned, ‘there can be no assurances that any transaction will result from these discussions.’ The company, which spun off from Motorola in 2004, has achieved a considerable improvement in profitability since.
