Four companies create Autosar testbed 03/08/2006

autosar, automotive electronics, automotive microcontroller Volkswagen, Hella, NEC Electronics and 3SOFT are jointly developing a fully functional body/comfort ECU for a Volkswagen series production vehicle which will be run AUTOSAR compatible software.
The aim of the project is to check, on a day to day basis over 12 months, how the real time demands of the automotive industry can be met.
The partners will also evaluate software integration, migration opportunities, use of resources, software runtimes, quality of specifications and cost.
The Autosar Control Unit will be mounted in a VW Passat, thus creating an authentic test environment. Experience gained from the project will be fed back into the Autosar consortium.
NEC is contributing a V850 series microcontroller, whilst 3SOFT is providing the Autosar software platform. Hella, meanwhile, is supplying the ecu hardware and software applications and is acting as the software integrator. Volkswagen will integrate its own software modules and the ECU into the Passat.
