ON Semiconductor has announced the launch of 12 new 100V N channel power mosfets with what it claims are 'industry leading' ratings to withstand high voltage spikes in power supplies and motor control applications.

MOSFETs deliver industry leading ratings says ON SemiThe company says that the devices have avalanche ratings of up to 500mJ and are suitable for use in designs where voltage overstress resulting from unclamped inductive loads is a concern. Applications include industrial motor control, power supplies, power inverters in uninterruptible power supplies and direct gas injection in automotive.

According to ON Semi, the lead free, RoHS compliant devices include RDS(on) as low as 13mO, with a current capability as high as 76A. The mosfets have been 100% avalanche tested and are AEC-Q101 qualified.

Paul Leonard, vice president and general manager of ON Semi's mosfet products division, said: "With the potential for high voltage spikes due to switching inductive loads, and the drive for greater energy efficiency, ON Semiconductor's N channel power MOSFETs provide a robust and dependable solution. These new additions to our 100V product family give customers greater choice and help them find the optimum device for their specific applications."
