Vishay Intertechnology has announced the release of new power surface mount white LEDs in two binning versions. The VLMW321xx LEDs feature three anodes and one cathode, while the VLMW322xx LEDs offer three cathodes and one anode.
According to Vishay, the devices feature a PLCC 4 package with a lead frame optimised to provide low thermal resistance down to 300K/W and power dissipation up to 200mW. This, says Vishay, enables high drive currents up to 50mA for twice the brightness of Vishay's high-intensity SMD LEDs in the PLCC 2 package.
For automotive applications, both LEDs are automotive qualified AEC-Q101 and are intended for automotive and home lighting, backlighting in household appliances and general illumination for retail displays.
Built on InGaN technology, the devices have been designed to provide a luminous intensity of 1400 to 3550mcd, and luminous flux from 7000 to 8900mlm. The LEDs feature a 60° angle of half intensity and a luminous intensity ratio per packing unit of less than 1.6.
