Samsung Electronics is planning to build a $2.3billion lcd panel plant in Eastern China.
The new build is part of a joint venture with a capital of $800million.
The new plant, in Suzhou – in China's Jiangsu province, is subject to approval from regulators in South Korea and China. If approved, the world's number one lcd panels manufacturer plans to produce 42in lcd tv panels using 7.5-generation technology. The plant is predicted to start mass production from 2010.
The plans were revealed following Samsung's biggest rival, LG Display announcing its plans to build an 8th-generation lcd panel plant in Guangzhou, China.
