A series of small footprint quad RS422 transmitters from Intersil are esd protected to 16.5kV. Their wide supply voltage operating range is said to suit them to motor control applications, process control networks, telecommunications products and factory automation systems.
The ISL32179E, ISL32272E and ISL32274E feature low output leakage currents and can operate from either 3.3 or 5V supplies and at temperatures from -40 to 125°C. All parts can replace RS422 transmitters that are either restricted to 5V supplies or which have limited temperature operating ranges.
Data rates of 32Mbit/s and quiescent currents of 0.8mA are supported and slew rate limited versions are available. Shutdown supply current can be as low as 60µA in the qfn packaged versions. Driver outputs are tristatable and incorporate a hot-plug feature.
Available in tssop or nsoic packages, the ISL32179E is also offered in a 4 x 4mm qfn package. This part also features data rate and enable options for design versatility. Multiple enable pins allow the user to choose active high or low group enables, paired enables or individual channel enables, while speed select pins allow data rates from 460kbit/s to 32Mbit/s to be selected.
