Memory chip manufacturer Samsung Electronics has announced it has renewed an agreement with Japanese electronics giant Toshiba.
The renewed cross licence deal is expected to strengthen the market presence of both companies as leading suppliers of flash memory chips. The agreement licences both companies' patented technologies related to chips.
The two companied shared one another's semiconductor patents from September 2002 to March 2009 and as of Samsung controls 42.1% of the global market for NAND flash memory chips, while Toshiba holds a 29.3% share.
