Trescal buys Qinetiq assets, claims calibration leadership

Following its acquisition of ASAP Calibration and QEMS assets from Qinetiq, French company Trescal claims it is now the leading UK provider of calibration services.

Trescal buys Qinetiq assets  claims calibration leadershipAccording to Qinetiq's latest financial statement, its calibration business has been disposed of for a 'nominal' sum.
The acquisition consists of three laboratories and around ten local customer support operations. According to the company, the deal will allow it offer 'best in class' service and a greater geographical coverage. It adds that its spectrum of technical skills and related accreditations enables it to hande a wide range of measurement requirements.
The move adds to its September 2008 acquisition of Livingston Group's calibration laboratory.
"Trescal now benefits from a leading position in the UK market, whilst also reinforcing its European leadership," said Trescal's ceo Olivier Delrieu.
"This acquisition consolidates our 'one stop shop' offer for test and measurement equipment in the UK and embodies our strategy to accompany our industrial customers wherever they are located."
Trescal was acquired in 2008 by French investment company Astorg Partners.
"In less than eighteen months," said Astorg president Xavier Moreno, "six acquisitions have been made in six countries, consolidating Trescal as the European leader of calibration services.
Trescal's European network now comprises 45 calibration laboratories.
