GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms has won an $500,000 order from Airbus for a customised version of the CL11 single board computer. The board will be deployed in the cabin electronics system onboard Airbus aircraft. While the initial order is worth more than $500,000, repeat orders over the next five years could take the value to $15million.
Key Airbus requirements were for a blade that was high performance, small, lightweight and rugged. A further requirement was for the board to include aviation style I/O capabilities and this has been developed by GE Fanuc specifically for Airbus.
The CL11 is a 3U CompactPCI sbc with an Intel Core Duo or Core2 Duo processor. Power management technology eliminates the need for an onboard fan and the board supports up to four PCI Express interfaces, plus a range of other interconnects.
