ROHM Semiconductor's range of analogue and digital ambient light sensors is designed for the control of led backlighting for lcd equipped devices.
Featuring ROHM's trimming process and use of multiple photodiodes with different junction depths, the ALS Ics are said to provide an accurate output with little variation between various light sources. According to ROHM, the spectral response of ALS ICs has been tailored to closely match that of the human eye for accurate light measurement. These features combine to provide visibility for lcds over a wide range of ambient light levels and sources. The series offers a light sensing accuracy of ±15%, stable ambient light detection (±10% maximum difference) and a temperature operating range between -40 to 85°C.
