The art of capturing images digitally has benefited enormously from the technologies of ccd (charge coupled device) and cmos image sensors. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses in certain applications, with much being said regarding the superiority of one technology over the other.
The last few years have seen a flurry of activity within both technologies and predictions regarding the demise or ascendancy of either have, so far, proved false. In fact, the outlook for both technologies is vibrant. So where now for designers looking at the potential of ccd and cmos imagers?
