Discontinued devices get new lease of life

Avnet Memec is offering functional substitutes for the discontinued µPD7105x family from NEC Electronics and for compatible 82C5x series devices from other suppliers.
Based on low cost gate array asic technologies, the Avnet Memec RD71051 (USART), RD71054 (Programmable Timer/Counter), RD71055 (Programmable Parallel Interface) and RD71059 (Programmable Interrupt Controller) devices come in RoHS compliant qfps and are said to be direct replacement for the discontinued parts. Avnet Memec is guaranteeing ‘long time availability, worldwide logistic service and support’ for these devices.
