Plextek forms software systems group 01/07/2008

Electronics and communications design consultancy Plextek has formed a Software Systems group to focus on software development projects using Microsoft Windows Embedded. Gerard Smith, formerly a principal consultant within Plextek’s automotive team, will head the group.
According to Smith: “Having recently received Windows Embedded Silver Status, Plextek is in a fantastic position to move forward with embedded software development for its customers.”
The group has been tasked with developing software for a range of Windows Embedded projects that require complex connected functionality and rapid time to market. Plextek’s embedded software development process covers all phases of the design life cycle, from the creation of ideas right through to the manufacture of products. This has the flexibility to be adapted for quick prototyping, or rigorous enough to provide a confident path through to volume production.
Tim Phipps, Plextek’s sales and marketing director, added: “The Software Systems group will help Plextek provide even better service to our clients. It forms a key part of our comprehensive development package for all aspects of a clients needs, helping them achieve shorter development cycles and a quicker time to market.”
