Semis sales holding up 09/05/2008

Semiconductor Industry Association, Semiconductors, Memory Worldwide sales of semiconductors of $63.4bn for the first quarter of 2008 were 3.8% higher in the first quarter of 2007, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association. However, sales declined by 5.1% in the first quarter of 2008, compared to the fourth quarter of 2007.

The SIA said sales were buoyed by growing consumer purchases of electronic products in world markets, which ‘more than offset’ the effects of a slowing US economy.
