Synplicity moves to ease fpga design complexity 15/04/2008

In a move aimed at boosting productivity for designs featuring complex systems in fpgas, Synplicity has launched System Designer, a device independent IP configuration and system level assembly environment.
System Designer allows users to select, configure and assemble internal and third party IP delivered in the IP-XACT format, integrate that IP and then implement it into devices from a variety of fpga vendors, including Actel, Altera, Lattice and Xilinx.
“FPGAs have evolved into system implementation vehicles by virtue of their increased density, speed, dedicated resources and the time to market advantages,” said Angela Sutton, Synplicity’s senior product marketing manager. “System Designer answers customers’ needs for system level implementation tools by allowing them, for the first time, to access IP from a range of vendors, evaluate the IP in the context of their design and then implement the system in their choice of fpga.”
