Look, no wires!

One thing was on the mind of many consumer electronics executives at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Aside from the vision of better tvs and more readily available content, the general consensus – amongst tv makers at least – was of a bright future for wireless in the living room.
Countless surveys, focus groups and user forums have left consumer electronics vendors in little doubt as to what people feel about the nest of wires behind their tvs, or their wish to network seamlessly with such products as HD DVDs, camcorders and gaming devices. The debate – and a matter of fierce debate – is which flavour of wireless technology will be the enabler.
