Wouldn’t it be useful to have an extra pair of eyes or two that could see the hazard around the next bend or the sudden patch of fog up ahead? Even better, what if that extra pair of eyes relayed the information you need automatically?
The ability to provide such information at a local level and with the necessary speed has been something of a Holy Grail and it will be no surprise that car manufacturers and research consortia worldwide have been working to provide just such a service for many years.
