Proof of concept

Whilst the proof of the pudding is in the eating, the proof of concept is in the creation of a reference design. In today’s fast paced industry, the challenge facing OEMs is to reduce the design cycle and speed up the time to market. Indeed, it’s not uncommon for the development cycle of a consumer product to last twice as long as the time it’s actually available on the market – such is the speed that one product is superseded by another.
The reference design lets the OEM select the solution that best meets their performance needs and requirements, cutting costs and reducing risk in any integration project. They contain the essential ingredients of the system design that third parties can enhance or modify as required.
This is particularly true when supporting the development of next generation products using the latest technologies such as video over usb for example.
