AMIS moves Smart Power R&D into IMEC 28/01/2008

AMI Semiconductor and IMEC have signed a two year collaboration program to develop the former’s Smart Power technologies.
Under the terms of the agreement, AMI will develop critical and novel Smart Power processes and devices in IMEC’s 200mm facilities, and use IMEC’s deep submicron process technology expertise.
AMI’s ceo Christine King said IMEC is the right partner to support Smart Power development programs. “This agreement will allow us to develop our next generation I4T Smart Power Technology platform whilst protecting our differentiating and critical IP.”
Although AMI has collaborated with IMEC on a number of developments over the last 20years, this will be the first time that it has put its technology R&D into IMEC’s premises. The I4T platform will enable complex system on chip Smart Power systems for next generation automotive, power regulation, and communications applications.
