ARM says more than 10billion ARM processors shipped 22/01/2008

ARM processor ARM says the total number of processors shipped by its partners has exceeded 10billion. Since the company developed the ARM6 – its first embeddable risc core – in 1991, business has grown to the point where some 3bn ARM processors ship each year.
“ARM Partners have now shipped more than one processor for every single person on the planet” said Warren East, ARM’s ceo. “10bn ARM processors in use marks an enormous milestone for ARM, but also demonstrates the growth in adoption of the ARM processor architecture by the majority of major electronics companies and across the broadest range of applications.”
According to the company, its processors can be found in products ranging from the LG Viewty, Nokia N95 and Sony Ericsson P1i smart phones; the iPhone (pictured) and the iPod; and Garmin, Navman and Tom Tom portable navigation systems; to wireless routers from Linksys and Netgear.
