Fujitsu move could see semiconductors spinning out 21/01/2008

Fujitsu is to set its semiconductor operations up as a new subsidiary with effect from March. The move could be a precurser to the new entity being spun off.
According to the company, the move will allow it to ‘accelerate and intensify’ its focus on the assp and asic markets, as well as bringing ‘greater speed and flexibility’ to its operations.
As part of the reorganisation, Fujitsu is to consolidate 90nm and newer process technologies at its Mie plant. Making this move, it claims, will allow it to ‘strive to accelerate’ the development of 45nm processes and beyond.
