Core Store gives easy IP access
21/01/2008 Email to a friend

IPextreme has launched an online marketplace called the Core Store. The initiative is intended to allow designers to view available IP cores without having to speak to a salesperson.

When customers are ready to purchase, they follow a few simple steps during checkout to complete a standard license agreement. The IP is then delivered to their desktop via IPextreme’s XPack delivery portal.
Core Store products are packaged in an encrypted format with support available as an option.
The initial group of IP cores available for purchase include Freescale’s newly announced Coldfire V1 and a collection of standard AMBA peripherals from National Semiconductor. Additional cores will be added to Core Store each quarter.
“By providing a simple and transparent way to buy high value, silicon proven semiconductor IP, we are giving customers what they have long asked for,” said Jerry Ardizzone, vice president of sales at IPextreme. “We are excited to introduce an innovative new option for companies to purchase IP.”
“By offering the V1 ColdFire core to developers at the $10, threshold, Freescale and IPextreme are providing a cost effective entry point to ColdFire architecture,” said Aiden Mitchell, consumer and industrial mcu product manager for Freescale’s Microcontroller Solutions Group.
