Xilinx pushes automotive fpgas 09/01/2008

Xilinx has launched Spartan devices targeted specifically at automotive applications. The Spartan-3A and Spartan-3A dsp fpgas are said to offer domain optimised solutions with high I/O to logic ratios and high bandwidth digital signal processing. The parts also boast low power consumption and advanced design security. Applications include infotainment, hybrid cluster and driver assistance systems.
The Automotive Spartan-3A devices feature up to 1.4million system gates and 502 I/Os. According to Xilinx, the parts are the only fpgas compliant with 26 single ended and differential signalling standards, with support for CAN, MOST and FlexRay.
XA Spartan-3A DSP devices offer more than 30 GMACs and a memory bandwidth of 2200Gbit/s. In addition, the family provides up to 53,712 logic cells, 2268kbit of Block ram and 373kbit of distributed ram.
