Livingston based European Design Centre, 'Technical Scholar' programme Recognising market opportunities and positioning staff to meet them is at the heart of the consultancy business model, and so it follows that a thriving consultancy tends to be more prepared than other businesses when it comes to nurturing staff. This is particularly true of those operating in rapidly changing business environments – and the electronics industry has always evolved quicker than most.
Design services company Plexus employs 300 design engineers in five countries, with the Livingston based European Design Centre accounting for 21. The company’s expertise spans embedded hardware and software, mechanical and pcb engineers, plus professional project managers. Engineering manager John Simpson, responsible for recruiting and managing the Livingston engineering team, is intent on expanding the design centre. Cambridge Consultants, meanwhile, employs more than 250 engineers at its UK HQ and in Boston, with an array of technical disciplines. With an active recruitment brief, it is always open to an approach from talented engineers.
