High power deal for Cirrus 13/07/2007
 
analogue amplifiers, power drivers, precision power In a move which gives it an entrée into high power industrial markets, Cirrus Logic has bought high power analogue amplifier specialist Apex Microtechnology for $42million.
“Apex’ proven success and diversified customer base gives Cirrus Logic the expertise to expand into high power industrial markets,” said Jason Rhode, Cirrus Logic’s president and ceo, pictured. “Combining our signal processing and ic design skills with Apex’ expertise in power drivers and amplifiers will allow us to introduce precision power products with higher levels of integration and functionality.”
Apex produces ics, hybrids and modules for a range of industrial and aerospace applications that require high power precision analogue products. The amps are used for driving motors, piezo electrics, programmable power supplies and other devices requiring high power and precision control.
